Consistent, integrated communications processes for customers
Wacker Chemie AG implemented integrated communication processes with SAP NetWeaver to their customers and took the first step to an Enterprise Service-Oriented Architecture (Enterprise SOA).
Wacker Chemie AG is a globally operating chemical company with about 20 production locations and 14400 employees worldwide. In order to standardize IT-architecture Wacker Chemie AG decided to develop a future platform. This new portal solution for customers makes purposeful and effective information and communication processes with customers possible.
The future platform has to illustrate necessary functionalities to a large extent and to reduce interfaces. Wacker Chemie AG chose SAP NetWeaver. In October 2005, after six month's implementation phase, the new customer portal was online.
A substantial reason for the rapid implementation was the support through BTEXX business technologies, Special Expertise Partner for SAP NetWeaver Portal. BTEXX business technologies brought in its experiences from numerous portal installations. About 150 customers are integrated into the portal, and at the end of 2007 it should be 250. Each customer is registered with several users.
Additionally Wacker Chemie AG introduced the Web Content Management solution easyWCM of BTEXX business technologies. Editorial contents for the portal can now directly be provided, maintained and published in the existing navigation structure.
